This fresh salsa recipe is simple to make from scratch and tastes great. It gets even better if you have time to let the flavors meld. Perfect with your favorite chips at any get-together!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups freshly chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup finely diced onion
- ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
- ¼ cup minced fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 4 teaspoons chopped fresh jalapeño pepper (including seeds)
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Equipment:
- Large bowl
Instructions:
- Stir tomatoes, onion, green bell pepper, cilantro, lime juice, jalapeño pepper, cumin, salt, and pepper together in a bowl until just combined.
- Let the salsa sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with your favorite chips or use as a topping for tacos, burritos, and more.
Tips:
- For a spicier salsa, add more jalapeño peppers or use hotter peppers such as serrano peppers.
- To make the salsa ahead of time, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a chunky salsa, chop the vegetables coarsely. For a smooth salsa, puree the vegetables in a blender or food processor.

Great flavors Simply the best salsa ever! Very little effort required, just some slicing and dicing – food processor works but I find that dicing looks so much more appetizing. I included the zest of the lime I used…yummy.
Really good salsa; nice and fresh. EASY to make. I put everything in the food processor and it was done in a couple of minutes. I did use 2 jalepenos and that was a bit much. You may just want to use 1 of those!!
