Step-by-Step Instructions for Cajun Fried Shrimp
- Whisk together mayonnaise, horseradish, ketchup, pickle juice, paprika, salt, pepper, and a dash of cayenne in a medium bowl until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Whisk together buttermilk, eggs, hot sauce, mustard, Cajun seasoning, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Add the raw shrimp and toss to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, and additional Cajun seasoning in another bowl. Mix well for an even distribution of spices.
- Heat canola or vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each marinated shrimp in the seasoned breading and fry in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to turn them for even cooking.
- Remove the shrimp from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve hot with the spicy dipping sauce.

Notes
For best results, marinate the shrimp, and avoid overcrowding the frying pan.
