  • 2 cups Broccoli Fresh florets preferred

  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Shredded, sharp suggested
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese Grated
  • 2 tablespoon Butter Unsalted recommended
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced, fresh preferred
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional for heat
  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg Use sparingly
  • ½ cup Bread Crumbs Can use gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh Parsley For garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Melt butter in the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add cauliflower and broccoli to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender but firm.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and nutmeg, simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Gradually stir in shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  7. Fold in the cooked sausage until evenly distributed amongst the vegetables.
  8. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, top with Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.
