Step-by-Step Instructions for Broccoli Casserole
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 4 minutes, then drain and rinse with cold water.
  3. Sauté the mushrooms and onions in 1 tablespoon of butter until the onions are translucent.
  4. Prepare the cream sauce by melting 4 tablespoons of butter, whisking in flour, then gradually adding milk and half and half until thick.
