- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your baking dish and ingredients.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Add sliced onions and caramelize for 15–20 minutes.
- In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour for 1 minute. Gradually add 1 cup of milk or cream, stirring until thickened. Mix in 1–2 cups of grated cheddar cheese.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine drained broccoli with caramelized onions. Pour the cheese sauce over and mix gently.
