- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 13x9-inch baking dish with butter.
- In a medium saucepan, combine heavy whipping cream, 2% milk, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Heat until bubbling, then remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Peel and thinly slice the potatoes to about ⅛ inch thickness, and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheeses.
- Repeat with the remaining potato slices, cream mixture, and cheese.
