Step‑by‑Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 10-inch cast iron skillet or an 8x8 baking pan by greasing it.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine dark brown sugar, sea salt, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and eggs. Whisk until blended, then add melted butter and mix smoothly.
- Fold in coarsely chopped pecans into the filling mixture and pour it evenly into the prepared pan.
- In another bowl, mix yellow cake mix and optional cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the pecan filling.
- Melt another ¼ cup of unsalted butter and drizzle it over the cake mix layer. Then sprinkle the remaining chopped pecans on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or up to 35 minutes if using an aluminum pan until golden brown with a set center.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes
Serve warm for an extra special touch and consider a drizzle of caramel for enhanced flavor.
