Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and egg whites, mixing until combined.
  5. Combine dry ingredients, milk, and sour cream alternately into the batter.
  6. Pour batter into pans and bake for 20-30 minutes.
  7. Cool the cakes for 5 minutes then invert onto wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Whip heavy cream and fold in powdered sugar and strawberries.
  9. Assemble the cake by layering with frosting between layers.
  10. Spread frosting on top and decorate with strawberry slices.
