  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Fresh Dill or substitute with dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice fresh-squeezed is best
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
For the Toasts
  • 4 slices Whole Grain Sourdough Bread toasted
  • 0.25 lb Smoked Salmon thinly sliced
For the Toppings
  • 0.25 cup Thinly Sliced Red Onion adjust quantity to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Capers or substitute with chopped pickles
  • 1 tablespoon Finely Chopped Fresh Chives optional for garnish

Method
 

Directions
  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped fresh dill, and fresh lemon juice. Mix until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Toast the whole grain sourdough bread slices until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes. Place them on a cooling rack.
  3. Spread the prepared cream cheese mixture generously over each slice of toasted bread.
  4. Arrange the thinly sliced smoked salmon on top of the cream cheese spread. Follow with a sprinkle of sliced red onion and capers.
  5. Sprinkle finely chopped fresh chives over each assembled toast. Serve immediately.
