Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by peeling two ripe bananas and slice them in half lengthwise. Set them aside.
- In a medium skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Once melted, add ¼ cup of granulated sugar, stirring until dissolved. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to create the sauce.
- If using, pour in 2 tablespoons of dark rum and cook for about 30 seconds until the alcohol evaporates.
- Gently add the sliced bananas to the skillet, cooking for 2–3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Remove the fried bananas from the skillet and serve immediately, drizzling with the cinnamon butter sauce and optional ice cream.

Notes
Ripe bananas with brown spots yield the best sweetness and texture. Fry at medium heat to avoid burning, and let the butter melt slowly for a smooth sauce.
