Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
  3. Cut the very cold butter into small cubes and blend into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, yogurt, and milk until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the cheddar cheese, diced ham, and chopped scallions.
  7. On a floured surface, shape the dough into an 8-inch circle, about 1-inch thick, and cut into 8 wedges.
  8. Transfer the wedges to the baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart. Optionally sprinkle additional toppings.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
