- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
- Cut the very cold butter into small cubes and blend into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, yogurt, and milk until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the cheddar cheese, diced ham, and chopped scallions.
- On a floured surface, shape the dough into an 8-inch circle, about 1-inch thick, and cut into 8 wedges.
- Transfer the wedges to the baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart. Optionally sprinkle additional toppings.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving warm.
