  1. In a 5- or 6-quart slow cooker, whisk together the chicken stock and tomato paste until combined.
  2. Add cabbage, celery, carrots, onion, and beans. Toss in garlic, thyme, bay leaf, and salt, stirring gently.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours without opening the lid.
  4. Check for tenderness, remove thyme and bay leaf.
