  • ¼ cup Milk any type

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all your ingredients and prepare your baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the almond extract and mix well.
  4. Beat the eggs lightly before adding to the butter mixture. Mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture until smooth.
  6. Spread the dough evenly into an 8-inch square baking pan and smooth out the top.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk the remaining egg with a splash of milk. Brush this mixture over the dough.
  8. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top and gently press them in.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is slightly soft.
  10. Let the bars cool for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
