Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- Grate the frozen butter into the mixture and toss until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually pour in the buttermilk, mixing gently until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, fold it in half twice, and press it down into a rectangle.
- Sprinkle one-third of the blackberries over the dough, fold it over gently, and pat it down.
- Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place them close together in the baking dish.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the lemon glaze by whisking together melted butter, confectioner’s sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
- Brush the warm biscuits with the lemon glaze once removed from oven.
