  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 1.5 to 2-quart baking dish with 1 tablespoon of melted butter.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of salted butter and stir in ½ cup of heavy cream, ⅓ cup of light corn syrup, and ⅔ cup of light brown sugar until it bubbles gently and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 6 tablespoons of dark rum and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  4. Gently add 8 sliced medium bananas to the caramel sauce and toss to coat before pouring the mixture into the greased baking dish.
