Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped onion, 1 cup of diced celery, and 3 minced garlic cloves. Stir for about 5 minutes until translucent.
  2. Sprinkle in ¼ cup of flour, stirring continuously for about 2 minutes to form a light golden roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in 4 cups of broth and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, bring to a gentle simmer, and bubble for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in 1 cup of crab meat and 1 cup of shrimp, reduce heat to low, and simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning, along with salt and pepper. Stir well and simmer for another minute.
