  • 500 grams Mutton substitute with lamb for different taste
  • 2 Onions finely chopped yellow onions recommended
  • 2 Tomatoes fresh preferred, canned can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger & Garlic Paste homemade or store-bought
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin adjust spice levels to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon Chili Powder adjust to manage spice level
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 3 tablespoons Oil ghee can be substituted
For Serving
  • ¼ cup Fresh Cilantro for garnish
  • 1 Naan or Roti choose your favorite bread
  • 2 cups Rice fluffy basmati rice recommended

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Mutton Masala
  1. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a heavy-bottom pot over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add 2 finely chopped onions and sauté for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Stir in 1 tablespoon of ginger and garlic paste and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add 2 chopped tomatoes, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon coriander, ½ teaspoon turmeric, and ½ teaspoon chili powder. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Introduce 500 grams of mutton chunks, searing them for 8-10 minutes until browned.
  6. Pour in 2 cups of water, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 45-60 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, simmer for another 5 minutes, then serve hot garnished with cilantro.
