  3. Allow the apple mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to draw out natural juices.
  4. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  7. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour half the batter into the dish, then layer with the apple mixture and top with remaining batter.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
