Preparation Steps
  1. Bring the New York Strip steak to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  2. Season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 2–3 minutes on each side.
  4. Add butter during the last flip for added richness. Transfer to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  5. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
  6. Cook for 10–15 minutes until onions are caramelized. Drizzle in balsamic glaze towards the end.
  7. Cut the ciabatta loaf in half and toast until golden and crispy.
  8. Spread lemon herb aioli on each half of the bread.
  9. Layer fresh arugula, thinly sliced steak, and sweet caramelized onions on the bread.
  10. Top with the other half of ciabatta, cut in half diagonally, and serve warm with a side of fries or salad.
