Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Remove sausage and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add diced yellow onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. Add uncooked orzo to the skillet, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes to toast.
  4. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the bottom. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in broccoli florets and return cooked sausage to the skillet. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese and lemon juice. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with parsley.
