Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder Adds rich chocolate flavor; try dark cocoa for a deeper taste.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Provides sweetness and balances the bitterness of cocoa.
  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter Offers moisture and a rich, fudgy texture; can be swapped with coconut oil for a dairy-free treat.
  • 2 Large Eggs Binds the mixture and contributes moisture; ensure they're at room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Gives structure to brownies; substitute with a gluten-free flour blend if needed.
For the Spider Web Decoration
  • 1 cup White Chocolate Chips Perfect for creating the spooky spider web; consider vanilla candy melts for a twist.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Gel Food Coloring Use to color the spider web; can be omitted for a classic look.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • Piping bag or fork

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder together. Stir until smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the chocolate mixture using a spatula.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  6. If desired, add black gel food coloring to the melted white chocolate. Use a piping bag or fork to create a spider web pattern on the cooled brownies.
