Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 lb of ground beef with Italian seasoning, mixing thoroughly with your hands.
- Divide the seasoned beef mixture into four equal portions, shaping each into a thin patty about ½ inch thick.
- Take one patty from each pair and place 3-4 oz of provolone or mozzarella cheese in the center.
- Carefully place the second patty on top of the cheese-filled patty and press down around the edges.
- Optional: Chill the assembled patties in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil. Cook the patties until golden-brown, approximately 5 minutes per side.
- Remove the burgers from the skillet and assemble them on hamburger buns, spooning pizza sauce over the top.
