Ingredients

For the Brine
  • 2 cups distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar for a milder taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or honey/agave syrup for a natural touch
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt or sea salt (iodine-free)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
For the Cucumbers
  • 4 cups firm cucumbers sliced into rounds or spears
For the Flavor
  • 1 cup fresh dill or dried dill in a pinch

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Large heatproof jar

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the distilled white vinegar, water, granulated sugar, kosher salt, minced garlic, and chopped fresh dill. Heat over medium-high until the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. While the brine is heating, wash and slice the cucumbers into thin rounds or spears. Place them into a large, heatproof jar or container.
  3. Once the brine has boiled and all solids have dissolved, carefully pour the hot liquid over the cucumbers in the jar, ensuring they're fully submerged.
  4. Allow the jar to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until the brine reaches a manageable warmth.
  5. Once cooled, cover the jar with a lid and place it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to marinate.
  6. After 24 hours, your Sweet Dill Pickles are ready to serve! Enjoy cold as a snack or side to meals.
