Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium pot over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in chili seasoning, minced sweet onion, ketchup, and water. Simmer on low for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
  2. In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix with mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Stir in celery seed, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix well and let it rest.
  3. Shape ground chuck into 4 patties. Season each with steak seasoning. Preheat skillet over medium heat and cook patties for about 6-8 minutes per side. Add cheese in the last minute to melt.
  4. Slice buns in half, spread yellow mustard on the inside. Layer cheese-topped patty, spoonful of chili, coleslaw, and diced onions on the bottom bun. Finish with the top bun.
  5. Secure each burger with a knife if needed. Serve immediately to enjoy the juicy, messy delight of the Carolina Burger.
