Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium pot over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in chili seasoning, minced sweet onion, ketchup, and water. Simmer on low for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
- In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix with mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Stir in celery seed, garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Mix well and let it rest.
- Shape ground chuck into 4 patties. Season each with steak seasoning. Preheat skillet over medium heat and cook patties for about 6-8 minutes per side. Add cheese in the last minute to melt.
- Slice buns in half, spread yellow mustard on the inside. Layer cheese-topped patty, spoonful of chili, coleslaw, and diced onions on the bottom bun. Finish with the top bun.
- Secure each burger with a knife if needed. Serve immediately to enjoy the juicy, messy delight of the Carolina Burger.
