Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat until it becomes bubbly and fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Add 1 cup of diced onions to the melted butter, stirring frequently. Sauté the onions for about 3 to 5 minutes until they are soft and translucent.
- Pour in ¼ cup of whiskey, and increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in 1 cup of beef stock (or broth), scraping the bottom of the saucepan. Increase heat to bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Add a dash of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Then, whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring constantly and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes until it thickens.
- Once thickened, remove it from heat and drizzle it over your favorite meats or pasta.
