Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather a 9x13 inch baking dish for layering.
- In a large skillet, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until the meat is browned and onions are translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until creamy and well blended.
- In the baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until top is golden and bubbly.
